Conjunctiva
General redness of the eyes :
- This could be as a result of excess exposure to dust; smoke; wind; sunlight and/or artificial lighting; or something that triggers an allergic reaction.
- Can also be due to strain of the eyes where either spectacles or a tint or coating on the lenses may be needed.
- At Signature Eyecare, our optometrist will be able to assess to help treat or manage the underlying cause of the redness.
Sudden redness of the eyes :
- The eyes may feel pokey; with a burning sensation, itchiness; and/or sensitivity to light with maybe some discharge.
- This could be due to a foreign object in the eye or maybe an infection.
- The optometrist will need to assess and advise on the necessary treatment.
A yellowish colour/spot/growth on the white of the eye :
- This can progressively grow causing discomfort; light sensitivity; and blur vision.
- Sometimes it can spread to the brown of the eye (iris).
- At Signature Eyecare, our optometrist will be able to advise on preventative care and/or treatment to ease any discomfort.
A brownish colour/spot/growth on the white of the eye :
- This can also progressively get bigger or darker over time but seldom causes any discomfort.
- This will have to monitored with advice on treatment if necessary.
